Leading travel insurer More Th>n is refusing to cover customers in the event of Brexit disruption
A LEADING travel insurance firm has added Brexit to the list of events that it won’t pay-out for.
More Th>n has written to customers warning they won’t be able to claim for any disruption caused by Brexit.
In an email it told customers that cancellations, delays or missed departures caused by poor weather, industrial action or mechanical breakdowns would be covered under their policy.
But it added: “However, if the issue is not as a result of the perils listed, such as Brexit, then you will not be able to claim.”
It means Brexit has joined Acts of God and terrorism as factors not covered under regular travel insurance policies.
More Th>n instructs customers to recoup the costs from airlines, hotels, travel agents or their credit card companies instead.
In the email More Th>n warned customers: “Whilst it still not clear how Brexit will happen, there may be degrees of travel disruption due to this event.” [sic].
More Th>n blamed its underwriters – German insurance firm Allianz – for the lack of Brexit cover.

A spokesman said: “Allianz Partners UK can confirm that MORE TH>N travel insurance customers are not covered for travel disruption resulting from Brexit subject to the policy terms and conditions.
“The cancellation, delay and missed departure sections of the MORE TH>N policy covers specified perils only – for example poor weather; strike or industrial action; mechanical breakdown.”
Earlier this year a survey found that five out of seven leading travel agents were unable to provide insurance cover in the event of a no deal Brexit.
