THERESA May risked sparking a fresh Tory rift after refusing to rule out Jeremy Corbyn’s demands to soften her Brexit deal.

In a letter to the Labour leader the PM agreed to enter further talks with his party over his plans to stay in the EU’s Customs Union and remain closely aligned to the single market.
